    Release bearing position to P. Plate?

    Hello All:

    I'm messsing with a t56 in a project car and have the LS1 slave cylinder and release bearing assembly but am using a non-LS1 (Chevy) clutch and pressure plate. My question is;

    1.) What is the correct release bearing to P. plate distance for correct operation? This is for a retracted slave cylinder condition.

    Thanks much.

    The lS1 hydraulic release bearing should be set up with 16mm or 5/8'' of crush, in other words when you bolt in transmission in place you are compressing the bearing by that amount. Mal

    Thanks a bunch tremect56. This is very helpful information to have and should reduce the amount of trial and error normally associated with adapting parts.

    tremect56, I just noticed that you're from Australia and wanted to express my condolences for the loss of your countryman, Steve Irwin. He was well liked around the world and brought a great deal of focus to wildlife and conservation issues. He just seemed like such a nice guy and was fun to watch and leard from. His wife is from a city about 90 miles from my wife and I. He will be greatly missed.
