Quick Shifting question
6-speed manual obviously w/ slp skip shift w/ 4Kmiles on the tranny
The other night, I went for a quick rip in the bird. Open patch of road so I did a good launch, 1st, 2nd... then I went to shift into third and it wouldn't properly engage into 3rd, so I basically hit neutral and the car revved crazzy, and I was like fuck I hope I didn't break anything, because it didn't sound good at all. Hope I didnt do any permanent damage
Now I'm fairly green at driving stick, not new, but certainly not experienced.
My only thoughts are:
1) I didn't clutch in enough, and forced it into 3rd(which kicked it back out to neutral)
2) the skip shift kit isn't responding well, and was thinking I should be in 4th
or 3) I might be missing some sort of technique or something... I dont know
Either way, now I'm scared to launch the car, I dont want to blow my tranny. Do you think I could have done any serious damage? Car still shifts fine, hope these are fairly durable trannies.

2002 Jeep Wrangler Sahara- Black 2002 Trans Am WS6
When I first got my car, I had a similar problem, and my car was actually stuck in 3rd gear. Turned out the synchros for 3rd gear were bad and had to be replaced. Car was still brand new though, so the warranty covered the cost.

Sounds like you either didn't disengage the clutch completely or the synchro is worn out on 3rd gear. Both can give you that issue. The skipshift has nothing to do with this problem, because it only controls the 1st-2nd shift. Basically it just has a solenoid that blocks off 2nd gear and defaults you to 4th, 3rd gear isn't part of that system though.

Ignition Orange/Black- 2008 G8 GT, 98 Z28 383
The manual transmissions in these cars are famous for problems. I had to replace the shift forks and synchros in my last two M6 T/As. I got sick of wasting my money and bought an auto.

With abuse, the synchros will go bad in the t-56.
If you're just granny shifting it, do you have any problems getting into any gears?

how about the drill mod. im not sure where we talked about this before but it sounds like you need to look into it.

Was u speed shifting? Did you get the clutch down far enough? With the car sitting on level ground and in 1 with clutch pushed in to floor rev it up to around 5k and if the car even thinks about moving you have clutch drag issues and the drill mod may help but more than likely will need an adj master

i've had the same problem with mine...
when i'd go to shift in to 3rd (at high rpm only) it would be like hitting a wall and not let me in to third...
after replacing my motor mounts and trans mount the problem is gone so i'd assume my trans was moving enough to make it where third should have been actually first gear..

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
Any issue with the pedal sticking??
My first thought was slave or master cylinder.
Shift forks and synchros can also be a problem. Most of the time though, it will let you in 3rd gear, but pop out.
Hell...I have abused my T56. I know it is on borrowed time, but when set-up right, they handle abuse pretty well. 11's cutting 1.67-1.72 short times.
