red- 1996 Z28 SS
Need some help
Just got my new toy. 1996 Red Z28 SS convertible.
Now the problem
It is locking me out of 2nd gear when going from first to second. Dosent do it downshifting to second, and it dosent do it every time. It is also poping out of reverse. I think the reverse pop is just a synchronizer, but im not to hot on transmission problems.
Took it in to the shop for some other stuff and had them quote me on the tranny. Said it would be about 1800 bucks to rebuild it.
Didnt think it would be that much, but like I said I dont know to much about transmissions.
Any advice would be awsome
Thanks

The 2nd issue may just be the skip shift. Is there a light on the dash when this happens? The reverse will require the trans removal/ teardown to fix.

Thanks for the info tom. It was the Skip shift. I had no idea about that. Damn that pisses me off. Who they think they are telling me what gear to go into LOL.
As far as popping out of reverse, I can deal with that for a while. Dosent happen very often.
Thanks for the help that might have saved me 1700 bucks.
25 bucks for skip shift eliminator.
