Major Project, need some advice

I will be rebuilding my transmission within the next month. The primary reason for the rebuild is that I hear a noise that no-one seems to be able to diagnose. So I'm going to buy all the bearings and replace them myself. While I'm in there, I would like to beef up the internals. I'm looking at a steel 3-4 shift fork and bronze shift pads for at least 1-2 and 3-4. If I happen to find a bad synchro or other part while I'm in there, I'll just have to order it at that point.

I also want to mate up my rebuild to an LS6 clutch. I'm going with LS6 instead of LS7 because of the weight savings and cost difference. Also, my power goals are right in the 400-450 range at the crank.

Ideas? Considerations?

Has anyone done this before and what should I look out for? Who should I buy from?

I am subscribing to see if a regular joe can do it. Take lots of pics and write up a sticky. As far as the clutch goes, have you upgraded your master cylinder yet? You should do that at the same time. I don't think any of the guys like the clutches you asked about. They will chime in, I'm sure. I have a spec myself. It works fine, just wish I would have changed the master at the same time. The stock hydraulics are way too weak, and I ended up chewing fourth out of the tranny. That's why I am interested to see if a regular joe can do this. Good luck man.
