    M6 Tranny

    So...
gears are grinding. 2nd and 4th the most...2nd almost every time
and if i take my time shifting really slow...it grinds on every gear
the shifter itself is kinda loose, vibrates alot. but i plan to get a Pro 5.0, new clutch kit with speedbleeder and new MC.
so i was wondering if i can build up my transmission? or should i replace? any thoughts?

I had the same issue, with 2nd and 4th grinding, especially 2nd same as you. It was a clutch issue for me, not the tranny itself. Have you checked the clutch?

Yes, you can build your transmission. There are several reputable transmission builders. I used RPM Transmission located in North East Indiana.

If you plan on having a shop do the rebuild for you, it is going to be costly...

Since yours is grinding in every gear, this to me doesn't sound like a transmission problem but a clutch problem.

If it was only happening in a certain gear, I would say it is your synchro's in the transmission for that gear.

Are you still on stock clutch or have you replaced it? Sounds like the drill mod would help.

    yup...im all stock
so...new clutch kit with speed bleeder and MC?
    fuck... here goes $1000
im thinking the Monster Stage 3?
ive heard the LS7 clutch is good, but i plan to be boosted in the next 4 years or so (and wouldnt that put me over 505hp therefore overpowering the LS7 clutch? ...or what?) would the LS7 be a waste of time to only have for 4 years...or i guess i could always upgrade when needed right?

This line sounds like a clutch problem. Not a bad idea to start with the clutch makeover and see where that gets you.

The first thing I would check is your hydraulic fluid. Is it black or does it look like a honey color? If you've never changed it, it is probably dirty.

sounds like a slave cylinder problem to me.

check to see if it creeps up reving the engine in gear with the pedal pushed.

    Thanks,
    Mark

no he meant the car. If the car creeps forward with the clutch pedal to the floor when you rev it up, then the clutch isn't fully disengaging the engine from the transmission.
