Don't take me 100% on this, but I believe it sounds like a problem with worn syncros. I don't think its really a problem unless it gets so bad that you have to force it or match rmps just to get it into gear. If it is syncros, the only fix is a rebuild.

Or it could just be a problem with the alignment of the shifter or something....I don't really know.

Would you say that it is "hard" to get in gear? Does it grind?

it is not "hard" it just no matter how fast i try and shift its the same, it honestly feels like it his a gate then slides right in.. it just wont slice through like butter like my old evo did, the tranny only has 40k on it. ill mess with the shifter and see if that fixes it,

I just noticed you had the Billet Hurst. I had that same shifter and it does feel like that. Do you have the long stick. I cut mine down and I "thought" it made a difference. It might just be in my mind.

Silver- 2002 WS6 TA
listen get it checked out. My wife got it stuck in 5th gear like that. blew the 5th-6th shift fork lost 5-6th gears the parts cost was 1K. You had better jump on it. Sixspeedsinc.com has carbon fiber sync's. best of luck

Mine was a royal pain when I first bought it. With nothing more than bleeding the hydraulics and going with royal purple in the gear case its a night/day difference.

i have problems with something similiar to this. when i run my car close to redline in first, it takes a second for me to get it into 2nd. if i run it up between 4500-5000 rpm then it goes in ok. it sucks though if im racing because i have to sit there almost pulling on it with 2 hands to shift it into 2nd. it works fine with the other gears. what might this be??

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
the pre 01 T-56 has really weak synchros. They're made of carbon, not brass, and are prone to wearing and chipping. I have driven 2, 2000 ws.6's [with new clutches/hydrolics] that this was common in.
I changed my fluids-that didn't help.
Then I changed my tranny mount, and that helped a lot.
Honestly, it's just cheaply made-like others said, if it gets impossible to shift, get it upgraded to stiffer forks/synchs

Notchy shifting is usually the clutch not working exactly right which causes more wear on the transmission . I'd probably bleed the clutch out first and see what that does . If its still feeling that way , you might need it freshened up . I am also not a fan of any Hurst 5 or 6 spd shifters . I have always had great luck with the Pro 5.0 shifters myself .
