    M6 into 2nd?

So, every 10th, or so shift from first into second the shifter tends to go to the right a bit and it is difficult to get into 2nd, if you just move it up to neutral a sec it goes right in. Doesn't seem to happen if your accelerating hard, never happens down shifting.. No grinding and like I said it happens infrequently. Only owned the car a few weeks.

    Sadly now demodded :(

CAGS. Delete it cuz it's a PITA.

CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Selection) was the General's way of having the consumer avoid having to pay a gas guzzler tax for the car. Basically it makes you go from 1st to 4th unless you're at ~WOT. This is how they achieve the fuel mileage it gets. It can be tuned out so it acts like a proper manual tranny. When I want gas mileage I do 1st to 3rd to 4th.

Is your "skip shift" light coming on when this happens? If so, it's like RSSS says. Warm engine, less than 25% throttle will do it.

    Ahhhhh
The shift light seems to come on a lot going from first to second, just like you said, warm engine, mild acceleration. Thought the light was trying to tell me I skipped a gear, not telling me I should skip a gear. Weird system..........
    Thanks guys

ps how do you disable skip shift?

You need to get it tuned out or you can purchase a skip shift eliminator. You'd be better off getting it tuned out and having a tune done. Frost, a member on here, does mail order tunes for a very reasonable price. If you plan on doing any other mods to the car, it would be better to wait until you do them and then get the tune.

Yeah it is strange to shift into 4th at under 20 MPH and then be around 750 RPM. Makes you want to shift into 5th early too, it really helps with gas mileage. However, you can either have it tuned out (Frost recommended, he just tuned my cars' brain and I feel more power on higher RPM), or buy an eliminator from a few different places. If you can get under your car, all you have to do is disconnect the connector on the transmission and plug in the eliminator. I did this, plugged in an eliminator, I asked Frost not to tune mine out, when the light comes on I can choose whether I want to shift into 4th at that time or not. I have an SLP eliminator, cost like $30. One of the few things SLP sells that people here don't say bad things about.
