LS6 vs LS1 Clutch Kit? Need Help

I need some help with this

According to GM OEM numbers for my 2002 WS6 the following part numbers are required for Clutch kit

    12572731 - Flywheel
    12570280 - clutch
    15705563 - bearing
    15046288 - Cylinder

I am told that I should use the LS6 assembly because the Flywheel and clutch come together and are cheaper. These are the part numbers.

    12570806 - Flywheel and clutch
    14061685 - Bearing
15046288 - Cylinder (same as above)

There is a major difference in cost with the LS6 being much more cheaper. Does this sound right? Why so much cheaper for the LS6.

Is this actually all I need to order

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

gm told me that the 98-02 slave cylinders comes with a throw out bearing attached to them, and now one part # replaced all 98-02 slaves. Also you need a new pilot bearing while your in there, and a rear main seal replaced, while you have your bell housing off. As far as the clutch and flywheel go, my gm guy says that pressure plate comes with a new flywheel, and the clutch disk is sold seperate? Also I would do a new master and slave cylinder swap, they come pre bled and ready to go from gm.

Take a look at my post. The numbers above include all of that(I think). The LS6 numbers include all of that except it includes the flywheel with the clutch together as opposed to having them separated. My question is if I order the LS6 clutch using the 3 numbers above is that all I need and will all of it bolt right up. I am being told it will by some but I just want to make sure. Thanks

yes it will bolt right up, all an ls6 clutch is, is a zo6 clutch. same as slp sells for all 98-02 6 speeds. slp sells the clutch disk, pressure plate and pilot bearing (not a throw out bearing, which should come on your new slave cylinder) for a zo6 vette, except there kit for 849.00$ includes a light weight steel flywheel. But other wise the ls6 clutch or zo6 clutch are the same from gm or slp performance.

    12570806 - Flywheel and clutch

So the above part numbers should do it? I was told that this was the complete clutch kit for the LS6 clutch kit assembly. It is a lot cheaper ordering it this way as opposed to the 4 numbers for the LS1.

my gm guy tells me that part #12570806 - is a corvette zo6 clutch kit, including a pressure plate, clutch disk, and factory flywheel.

part #14061685 is a pilot bearing for all chevy small blocks (including the ls1 and ls6)

part #15046288 is a slave cylinder for all 98-02 ls1 6 speeds and it comes with a throwout bearing.

so it sounds like you have the right stuff, might want to add a rear main seal, they are cheap and free and easy to swap while you have it apart.

    good luck!!

You pretty much confirmed what I needed to know. It is funny you say do the main seal. The backing plate gasket is leaking. That is why I am doing the clutch, I had some leaking and figured I might as well do the clutch.

if your car is a2002 it should have an ok master already in it. how many miles are on the car? also have you had any problems with the clutch sticking to the floor? if not, master probally ok if its not leaking.

but the master cylinder is only about 150$ so if you got the cash go ahead and replace it
