Gear swap ..Will spedo be off?

I want to got to a 4.10 gear in my 2000 trans am. Will this make my spedo off? I know on my vette it didn't change the spedo because the spedo is measured off the wheel sensors. I didn't know if the Fbody is the same way or not.

well that sucks. Will it make the car throw codes or anything till I get it fixed? The reason I ask is because I was going to swap them out now but the new tuner that is coming in to my area will not be set of to do anything till the end of the summer.

no it wont throw any codes, your speedometer will definetly be off though. Just watch your speed untill you get it hooked up to a computer to correct it.

Mine didn't throw any codes going from 2.73 to 3.42 in an A4 without immediate tuning. RPMs won't change - go to www.f-body.org/gears/ and make a "cheat sheet" and use your RPM/gear for the speedo until you get it tuned.

i went to 4.10's in my m6 and there was approx a 10% diff - which also means you will be putting on 10% more miles on the speedo. I waited a few months on my garage queen to get heads and a cam installed and had them change the speedo w/ the dyno tune that followed.
