What do you mean by "missing" third gear? Missing to me sounds like a driver mod j/k

Could even be the 3-4 synchronizer assembly.

Think you're right. OP wasn't too descriptive of the problem so I just threw it out there.

Is the problem at WOT? Or all the time? Is it shifting from 2-3 only? Can you shift from 4-3?

Bent shifter fork? It's internal. If you did the drill mod and it's still missing, you could:

a-drop the trans and crack it open to see if there is anything bent inside

    -or-

b-take the car to a trans shop and have them look at it. You might be looking at a rebuild.

I'm no expert either, but if it's at WOT only, I am guessing that is a hydraulic issue. maybe air in the line? low/dirty hydraulic fluid?

I thought the drill mod was to keep the pedal from sticking. Don't think it would hep you get in gear easier.

Correct. I believe it opens the line up to allow more fluid in for a smoother clutch pedal and less likelihood of sticking.
