Clutch switch issues
I have a 2000 TA with M6 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONE DAY,SO I PLUG IN THE OBD 2 SCANNER.AND ITS THROWING CODE PO 704 FOR THE CLUTCH SWITCH.I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH UNTIL I REPLACED THE SWITCH WITH A NEW ONE.OK SO I ERASED THE CODE. A WEEK LATER THE SES LIGHT APPEARS AGAIN WITH THE SAME CODE AFTER I PUT THE NEW SWITCH IN. ITS ALSO AFFECTING MY CRIUSE CONTROL ANY ONE KNOW GOING ON HERE??

Can you still start the car without depressing the clutch pedal? If so, could be a bad new switch or wiring to it. I've never heard of anybody with this issue. Does you scanner just show codes, or can you see the data? That would help, it would show the clutch switch position.
And yes, it affects cruise, if the PCM thinks the pedal is touched in the slightest, it disables cruise.

That code is for the Clutch anticipate Switch. It is depressed (and electrical open) when you have the clutch pedal released. it is adjustable so maybe it needs to be pushed back into it bracket.

Where did you get the clutch switch from when you replaced it the first time? maybe its a cheap shitty switch that didn't last too long?
Do you have a meter you can test the switch with?

Its the same switch that comes stock on the car, I got it new from Auto zone it cost about 5 bucks. I think i do have one of those volt meters you were talking about.

^^^Why not adjust the switch to contact the pedal, it's adjustable that way. Unless you've modded it somehow.
The best way to check the switch would be with it connected and see if it switches while depressing the clutch. Should not take much movement to see the voltage change. I don't have a wiring diagram, but just in case you should used a DVOM, not an old-school needle type, to protect electronics. These things are wired into processors.

Exactly. The switch does have adjustment to it. I've had to adjust ours. I still had to depress the clutch to start the car but the cruise control wasn't working. The pedal just wasn't contacting the switch enough I guess.
After I adjusted the switch some more, the cruise has worked perfectly.
