    Big reverse problems.... HELP

okay here goes one of my first problems was my transmission was really hard to get in reverse.. but when disabling cags i found the solinoid was not plugged up...that fixed that.. now the other half remains.. when i put it in reverse i have to hold it up in there and let the clutch out slowly untill it "clicks", then it is in... unless your backing up a hill or give it too much gas then it kicks out and starts grinding like a bitch... also noticed that when it starts grinding the speedo goes up to 20 or 30 mph and quickly comes back down as the grinding stops... sometimes it wont "click" into reverse and you have to let it grind before it will click in... simply pushing up and holding while in reverse won't work it has to click or it will grind...

if anyone could help me out here i would be greatly obliged

OK, I'm an A4 guy - so take this with a grain of salt. First thing to check is the ENG SEN fuse (controls the skip shift solenoid and reverse lockout). I'm thinking CAGS and reverse lockout connections might be different from what you're thinking?????

To get into reverse you have to shift there from second gear. It is due to how the reverse lock out is wired in on the six speeds. I shift mine into first gear, then second, finally into reverse. I've been doing it that way ever since I got the car over a year ago with no problems. Both the owners manual and GM service manual state that. It does sound like there is a bigger issue. Check the fuses first and go from there.
