There's no such thing as Dexron 4 or Dexron 5. They skipped from Dexron 3 to Dexron 6.
I used Dexron 3 at my last change.

is it a good a idea to change to dexron 6? my tranny has 108k. I chage my ATF every 50K. Will it cause leaks? any negatives? what are the benefits?

You don't want to do that from my understanding. If your t56 is stock, then it has paper lined blocker rings that don't like synthetic fluid. Stick w/ Mobile 1 Dex III (3). I used Advance Auto Dex III in mine a couple of weeks ago and it's doing just fine.

I was under the impression that T-56's (at least on my 2002) were synthetic Dex' from the factory???

Do not run Dexron VI (6) in any manual transmissions.

GM released a bulletin stating that Dex VI is incompatible with the blocker rings used in manual transmissions. GM renamed their brand of Dex III to "Manual Transmission Fluid" in order to reduce the confusion and possibility of using the wrong fluid. So if you buy your fluid at the dealer, you will get what they call manual trans fluid, which is actually just Dexron III.

Your best best is to stick to Dex III, either regular or synthetic. I run Mobil 1 ATF myself.

Some say yes, some say no. Since I don't know for sure, I just stick with regular Dex III ATF
