anyone recommend hurst shifter over b&m?
I put a B&m shifter in my 04 goat and i hate it. it seems like it doesnt center between 3rd and 4th when you take your hand off the stick. it tends to rest between 1st and 2nd and just makes it aquard to shift.
so i was wondering how the hurst shifter felt, and how the shifter boot fits around the base since it doesnt use the factory knob.
any help/ advice is appreciated.

I almost went B&M shifter when I first picked up my Goat because it was cheaper. But like life is, you get what you pay for. Just pick up a GMM ripshift and you will be satisfied. I have the race version but the street version works just as well.

i guess that my only fear with going with that style shifter is that it looks too much like the b&m, so i am afraid that it might not center properly to 3rd and 4th when its in neutral just like the b&m does for me now. i just wish i knew why it does what it does, that way i could justify spending 350 so i know the problem would be crrected.

Not returning to center( 3/4 gate) is a real problem. It may be more than the shifter. Check the plastic socket the shifter mates with in the trans. It should be glued in place and in good condition for the shifter to operate correctly. Since B&M now owns Hurst they may be more alike now.

Pewter- 2002 Camaro SS
Hurst
My 02 SS came with the optional Hurst shifter and I replaced the arm w/a short stick and a Hurst pistol grip handle and I really like the new setup. Feels much more mechanical and looks really cool.
