How is everyone getting to the plugs at all? Does everyone but me have a lift? I have ramps but then the car is on an incline so how would I know if the level is correct? I certainly cannot get my head under the car to do anything when it is on the ground, do I just have a big head or is there a trick that I don't know?

I ran the front wheels up on ramps, then jacked up the rear. You can put in stands once the rear is in the air, but I just put the rear wheels up on my old ramps once they were in the air.

Long time, no post, Ive been too busy modding my Nissan Titan lately.
Just did the sevice yesterday, very easy. The old fluid was defintly worn, shifts a little smoother, the pump thing worked great. I would be weary of bring tranny fluid into my car to dump thru the shifter. Spend the extra 8 bucks and buy the pump thingy,

    Please explain.

I agree, buy the pump. Makes it easier. But what would be wrong with using a hole up top if you couldn't get a pump and you needed to fill the tranny?

You're right, if you need to fill it, I didn't even know you could do that.
You defintly know more about these cars than me, never heard of doing that before, good to know though.

I use Amsoil Syncromesh, a pump and fill through the top hole on the trans.

well anything but atf III automatic tranny fluid is bad for gaskets/seals in your tranny.

Reason i filled from shifter hole cuz i was putting a new clutch in, and i had the shifter off...

I can never get those damn pumps to work it ends up taking an hour(maybe a little exaderation) to fill the trans so the last time I just filled from the shifter. Probably took the same amount of time altoghter but was less frustrating.

I have had my console to the side several times...so it doesn't take me long anymore.

Pennzoil sycromesh just put it in today its way smoother than regular atf. I was having 2 problems with second, one it would like to almost double pump. Meaning when I went to but it in second from first it would go in then pop out just a hair then fall all the way into second, it was kinda weird. I also had a problem downshifting to second alot of the times I either had to pick first or third when making a turn into a parking lot or whatever. It now slides in farily easy theres still a slight resistence but nothing like it was.

glad to hear, i wonder if your blocker ring is worn out on second? in any case you can take that out and replace it and the synchro before it comes apart and then makes the trans go boom

I used Mobil 1 in mine about 12,000 miles ago and the tranny is shifting smooth as butter, even with a clutch that is just about shot. I used a pump to fill mine.

i would have to say everyone is going to have their prefrences, i just used chevron dexron 3 and my trans shifts fine, im sure you could call up redline or amsoil and see what they think i would bet they would be most peoples go to for gear and trans fluid and motor oil
