Ya I can't make sense of his car either. Not to mention he is running a tire that is 1 inch taller than stock, so it should even knock the rpms down more, yet he says he is spinning even higher.
Then states his speedo is still off 5 mph after calibrating it on the dyno. Starting to make sense why he is only getting 21 mpg on a stock car with just bolt ons, I think all the numbers are skewed.

Not complaining one bit, it wasn't that long ago my cars would get 9 city, 10 highway. And they didn't go any faster than the WS6. And they might overheat. Could only stop quickly one time (stupid 4 wheel drum brakes).
You aren't really that far off from what I'm getting with our 6 speed car then. I have long tubes on the car as well. Her car also has a very mild cam similar to LS6 specs on a 112 lsa along with crane roller rocker arms. Makes good low and mid range power so it likes to loaf around I guess. If I keep it at 70 mph in 6th, 30.19 mpg is what I got the last time I did that.
I had a couple buddies in LS1 vettes that would get 32-33 mpg on the open highway (lighter cars and more streamlined)

Hey mabe wesman does have 4.56's cause I've seen him post in other threads bout how he thinks 4.10's are too much gear & I would personaly hate to go back to 3.42 gear!
I am also runnin a taller than stock tire on back & on freeway I was constantly shifting back & forth between 5th & 6th gear cause it almost felt like I was lugging under 70mph
    in 6th!??

Maybe, I don't know. This is the first site with people I've been affiliated with that I've ever heard complain of too much gear, especially in cars with overdrives, I can't figure that one out.
I still drive with 4.56's/4.88's and no overdrive in a couple of cars and don't think twice about it.
Having a .50 overdrive gear makes me want to throw some 5.38's in there

Theoretically, 2300 rpm, 4.10s, .50:1 OD gear, and 27" tall tire is 90 mph!!

Normally if I were setting the car up for dragstrip use, and had 4.56 gears, I wouldn't be running on little 25 inch tires anyway,,,,probably 28 inch at the least.
These 4th gen tires are just too short for any serious straight line use.

That's why I can't make sense of it. Even if you factor in wind and aerodynamics, the weight of the car etc... I can't see the car slowing down 15 mph to 75 as he says he is doing at 2300. And then only getting 21 mpg. Makes me think the speedo, tach, or something is off, and skewing his mpg numbers?? I don't know for sure, I'm not there. Just thinking out loud here.

    Nope.

Just pulled the 4.10's out a few days ago to replace the diff and install new gears and bearings. They were 4.10 gears, 10 tooth pinion and 41 tooth ring gear. I think the variance can likely be attributed to the stock tach, which is known to read a couple hundred RPM faster than the actual engine speed.

Topping these cars out is just part of normal maintenance.
