    3.73 gear hum

I installed motive performance gears in my ws.6 and have a pretty noticeable hum coming from them. Is this normal?

No, it should be pretty quiet if you got everything clearanced right. Did you use the shims that came out of the car? and did you put them back in the right place? Something you might have forgotten is the pinion shim behind the main pinion bearing... Message me if you have any questions, cause I've destroyed plenty of rear ends ha

If you did the install yourself, the ultimate test is if the pattern between the gears. Did that look right? If you get that right, you should be ok for whine. If someone else did it, take it back to be checked.

I'd say it's fairly normal with steeper gears. Could be set up quieter but it wont hurt anything.

Gearsets are NOT just "toss in"" mods.....they must be set-up correctly AND broken in correctly. And when buying gears, u get what u pay for....Motive would be the only "economical" gearset I would use, I prefer G.M. series from motive.
