    probably the "ship shift"

where if ur going under like 2,500 rpm and under 15 mph or something like that the wont let you shift from 1st gear into 2nd or 3rd, and u have to go into 4th gear.

so thats what i am thinking it has to be talkin about. its to save gas and i think it was the only way pontiac could save you money on the gas guzzlers tax.

the best thing to do is to get someone with ls1 edit to edit out the ship shift for a few bucks.

another lockout is the reverse lockup which a selonoid wont let u shift into reverse going past 3 mph i think.

thats the only two "lockouts" i know of on my car.

If they're talking about skip shift (or CAGS) you can easily defeat it with a resistor from radio shack.

It's nothing special, most people eliminate it. All LS1 F-body M6 cars come with it.

yeah because driving your LS1 at 800 RPM underload saves you that much more gas.....

That was the first mod I did. When I ordered the car, I ordered the CAGS! from SLP. Got the CAGS! in March '02, picked up the car in April '02. Drove the car from the dealership home (nearly wiping it out at 90 on an exit cause the new tires weren't biting, but that's another story), rolled it up the ramps, and plugged in the CAGS! piece and zip tied it out of the way. Consequently, my car has NEVER forced me from first to fourth. (The one I first test drove did, kind of scared that crap outta me, I didn't know what happened.)

Now, I love seeing the "Skip Shift" light come on and then shoving the transmission into second. Just one of those, "Skip Shift THIS!" kind of moments.
