Right after I made that post my TCI went for a dump and took out my trans. It never did lock up properly.

$3000 (including new converter) later, I went with a Vigilante 3200. It locks up as requested everytime.

No, you don't need to change your gears. You may have to tune your shift points so you don't hit the rev limiter.

As a DD I was told that I could get a good stall converter for around $90-150 If that's true or somewhere close to that let me know where I can get one.

You wouldn't even get a good used one for under $400

They were probably talking about a used trailblazer converter.

I hate to be a spoil sport, but the problem with this thread is that Torque Converter performance is directly related to engine output. The exact same TC can have different stall speeds on different motors. A TC has to be matched to
the application for it to be the most useful. So unless you know what applications all these TC's are being used with it's rather meaningless. That's why leading TC manufacturers like Yank have so many choices and prices.
Here is some info from Yank to give you the idea:

I can't get the columns to go side by side here, but if you pick say #3 in the list of mods go to the corresponding line under your gear ratio. If this is just too confusing, here's a link to the same thing laid out properly: I'm not yet allowed to post links, so you can go to the Yank site and find the wizard.
