What stall should I get?
Ok I think I want a stall but had a few questions.
I have read a stall makes you not move with gas until a certain rpm. It is much lower than the stall rated number (like 1200-2000 or something). If so, what would this number be on either of the above stalls?
Also, I have heard they can make the car feel slower. Should I get a shift kit on the car while I'm at it? Which one? I saw the B&M electronic one and the other one that goes in the tranny. Is the electronic one enough?
At idle, will the car sit still or move backwards on a slope like a manual?
When looking at which stall number I should get note that the car will not be drag raced. I want something I can just floor from a stop without having to let off the gas because of wheel spin.Last edited by Speed Psychosis; 12-27-2007 at 04:46 PM.

save on the stall, and get a 3.73 it will help so much more for autox

Even a high stalled car will move when you just barely give it gas. If you have low (numerically) gears such as the 2.73's it will be worse. Stalls like gears. I stalled mine and with the 2.73's it felt like the trans was slipping bad. the change to 4.11's and its not much different than stock. My car pulls at 1k like a stocker.
They definately don't make it feel slower.
Mine does sits still at lights.
Stall it and stomping it from a stop will make it spin more. Kinda of like dumping the clutch at whatever stall speed you have. With mine I can put it in 2nd gear from a stop, stomp it and it will eat the tires for a block. Anytime you put your foot to the floor with a stall the car will start moving at the stall speed pretty much instantly, no matter the gear or wether moving or not. Higher STR's make traction worse when they flash.
My vote would be 3500 or higher. Probably would do alright in autox as well, as soon as you're comming out of a corner and romp it the rpms will jump to your stall speed.

with a stall, it will allow your engine to pick up faster, and get to the powerband.

thanks for advice i didn't realize there were higher finals since drag racers want them lower. i'll probably get both.
im glad it sits still. to me that would feel sportier.
i'll look ino the 3400/3600 ones which are the same price anyways. will my tranny start having problems because of the launching at such a high rpm?
darn guess i really should have put that in poll. thanks for input.
