Is a vig 3600 stall to high for a stock engine?

Is a vig 3600 stall to high for a stock engine? I plan on a new cam eventually but if I go ahead and get the 3600 stall is it going to run good?

It sure will. A converter should be the first mod for any A4.

That high of a stall because someone told me that if its too high of a stall it will bog down then take off.

Thats incorrect. With a higher stall you would get into your powerband alot quickly and take off, provided you have traction.

A 3500-3800 is what quite a few LS1 shops recommend from what I have found. The LS1 is a little soft down low anyway and a loose converter will make it feel like a completely different car.

Besides, if you don't like it, Vigilante offers one free re-stall,,,,or atleast they used to.

If your vehicle is a 2001 or 2002 you should also consider replacing the weak flex plate with a TCI SF-29 unit, they sell for about $200 @ Jeg's and Summit.

Well they still have the lockup feature so on the highway it's not a big deal.
Around town is where it's noticed, and most of the time the transmission shift points can be moved up 2-3 mph for a better feel, and I have heard sometimes the shift pressures can be played with to help as well, this is where HPtuner or another custom software programmer comes in handy.
Then again, there are people that drop these in and love it the way it is without fiddling with transmission tables.
It's all personal preference. But what I think most everyone can agree on is a transmission cooler is a must and should be considered with the purchase of a loose converter.

As some of the others already pointed out, the stall speed will keep you in your desired RPM range, from both a dig, and from a roll. You won't even notice you have a stall speed in there when your driving normally. When you punch it, however, it becomes a whole other ball game....

Your car is a freak. My best so far is a 12.7 @ 107 with 4.11 gears. My buddy had an '02 Z28 with a 2800 vig, Fast toys ram air and Borla bullet muffler, !cats and ran 12.5. Do you have tuning software? If so I'd like to see it.

And does anybody know their 1/4 mile time with a basically stock ta with this converter? my car runs 13.4 with out the converter. I have that slp air lid k&n filter and a loudmouth exhaust.

With an essentially stock LS1 Trans Am (non WS6), w/just an SLP lid, K&N Filter, and TCI-3500 stall, car went 12.81 w/o slicks....

If its a brand new converter.. I would say give it 100 miles of normal driving before you actually get on it... depending on the setup.. you should drop anywhere from 3-5 tenths. Good luck and have fun!
