vaccuum modulator or electronic?which is better?
HELLO.i have my tranny at my builders shop and we were tearing it down for a rebuild.we got to the valve body and noticed that it is modulated by vaccuum instead of electronically..there is a little diaphram nest to the valve body with a hose to it.also the electrical connector had some kind of resistor plugged to it to substitute for the electronic modulator.i remember my car not wanting to downshift when i planted the throttle a few times before the rebuild.(not the reason for the rebuild)my question is..should i go back with a vaccuum modulator or an electric one?will it effect shift firmness?im guessing since my engine is cammed up bigtime, the vcaccuum part probably isnt working too well, causing the modulator to not shit till it gets enough vaccuum.shouldnt an electronic one eliminate that?please let me know..im not too knowledgeable with automatics.thanks

no its just the garden variety 4l60e. but with a vacuum modulator instead of the force motor.ive read builders weither like the vacuum mod or hate it.i i myseld cannot see any disadvantages of full line pressure.just wondering why so many builders say they have never seen a 4l60e with a vacuum modulator last very long?can someone answer this?
