    type???trans fluid 460E

    I bought a LS1/460E motor trans package from a 98 trans am. Getting ready to add trans fluid after a filter change and don't know what to put in it(don't know what is in it. Parts house says non synthic????(sp) How do I know what is in it and can you mix them. What does GM call for??? I am going with Mobil 1 in the motor. Thanks

    Factory would have been dexron/mercron or equivalant non synthetic,

    Anytrand fluid that is dextron/mercon based and no you can not mix them.

    dont bother with synthetic in your tranny. they say synthetic keeps the temps down, most people have an external cooler for that.
