Navy Blue Metallic- 1998 Trans Am
Transmission Problem
Hey guys listen I have a 1998 Trans Am with the usual bolt ons (exhaust, suspension lowering kit, gears, ect.) but recently my tailshaft of the tranny has been slowly leaking everynight when i park it (bad seal no big deal) but i have a B&M shift kit in it and all of a sudden now when the shifter is on it makes a loud thud that i can feel or even when its off and i redline it into 2nd u can hear it. Its so bad to the point where i cant even enjoy my powershifter anymore or even show it off because you can feel it in the center console. Also when i try to punch it while im turning, 1 tire sometimes spins (not both always cuz of limited slip) and u can hear/feel a loud thud right under me in the center console. I looked under my car and the trans mount seems fine. i looked the the torque arm though and something just didnt look right..i will take pics and post them tonight. PLEASE HELPP I DONT WANT A NEW TRANSMISSION LOL!!!!!!!!http://www.ls1.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif

torque arm mount or trans mount. Pry up on the rear of the trans with a pry bar, the mount is probably in two peices. Very typical failure for your car with a shift kit.

Like I said in my previous post...use a prybar to lift the back of the trans, see if the mount is in two pieces. The mount may look perfectly fine when you "look" at it. This is true for engine mount failures too...same method to check for bad mounts.
