trans gone!!
i just bought a 96 ws6, supercharged, headers, omni spark ingnition, wires fully built 4L60 with a stall etc. a couple days later the tranny loses third and fourth so i put a stock tranny with 80k in and month later same thing third fourth gone again. am i runnin to much power throough it or could there be something electrical or what? please help!

ive heard alot of ppl say, as well experienced it my self that 3rd and 4th gear mess up sometimes in t56

There could indeed be electrical issues helping with the failure or just could be a bad 3-4 set in the stock one and some failure in the built one. First thing though you have to get a working trans back in the car then check a few things out

the new stock one is under warranty but i dont want to pull it if i dont have to. is there any computer work i need to do if i do replace it?

Well you just need to verify Line presure is really it and oddly clean your MAF sensor

i was reading a thread about a guy losing 2nd and 3rd and someone said unhook the battery for 15 minutes and see what happens is this a possible fix if there is something electrical is wrong with it

and in neutral if you rev the motor a little bit you get a whining sound coming from the tranny any ideas?

The whinning sound could be a filter plugging...from the burned clutch material..hope this helps

when i got my ta it shifted like crap. i went out, got some MAF cleaner, electrical contact cleaner, and went to work. i unhooked my battery for 15 mins, during that time i unhooked all of my plugs from the throttle body and sprayed them and took off the MAF and cleaned that. put it back together and it feels like a new tranny. i dunno if thatll help, b/c of the "gone" 3-4, but its worth a try.

I expect that supercharger has laid waste to your 4L60E.Again! Take my advice and go ahead and get you at least a Stage 2 Performabuilt. Running a stock 4L60E on your car would be a waste of money as it won't ever hold up.
