tranny problems not fixed after mount!!!
well guys, after all of your help and my frustration it turns out that my broken tranny mount was not the cause of my problems! I drove the car to work this morning and it repeated the shifting probs!!! My girlfriend and I had plans to drive 3 hours to see her parents and i decided to take my car to see how it would behave. Before we left, i cleaned the MAF and reset the computer hoping that would help. It is shifting very hard from 1-2 much more often now and is shifting very sluggishly from 2-3 very rarely. Also at highway speeds i noticed that if i put the pedal to the floor, it sometimes takes longer than normal to shift down to 2 and pull. Any more ideas anyone??? I've also checked plugs and they are good. Don't know if this is internal trans problem or maybe something like TPS or something acting up..Remember i've had it to the dealer twice complaining of tranny probs and twice i've been told the trans is showing no probs. Sorry my posts seem to always be really long...just trying to get you as much info as possible. Thanks for any help you can give!!!

as suggested before your trans probably needs a rebuild. a tranny mount may cure a clunk but its not gonna have an effect on the quality of your shifts.

I was thinking a shift kit as well but it sounds like a servo or a band in the tranny, maybe even the torque convertor gone bad. Sorry to hear about your headaches. TPS sensor, I highly doubt it or you would've thrown a code of some sort

ok...thanks for the ideas! Yes-I had the tranny flushed when i bought the car since it was obvious it had been driven hard and then again last week with new filter and reprogram which is what dealer suggested to fix problems. No change. I have no idea if a shift kit was installed--any easy way to find out? Any additional ideas on how to diagnose this thing???

the torque converter is a real possibility, torque converter shudder will cause the problems you describe for sure. this happens with high mileage a lot, or when the trans has been subjected to use with a dirty fluid for long periods of time. your trans could very well have a shift kit in it as well.

anyway for me to confirm or rule out the torque converter without bringing it to someone??

nope. the way to know is to have someone that knows automatic transmissions. and lots of times the proper way to inspect the problem is to pull the trans down and inspect the converter itself anyways. id consider taking it to a professional trans shop and have a guy that knows the 4l60e trans diag ur car. u may have to get a low mileage junkyard trans.

08 Mustang GT/CS Blue- 2002 Trans Am WS6 traded
i've found a highly recommended trans shop, and am having the car looked at wednesday. If it is a matter of replacing or rebuilding the trans, I am considering replacing it with an aftermarket remanufactured trans. that will perform and hold up better. Any suggestions??? I have seen online that there are many companies offering these. I don't take the car to the track, I just drive it to have a good time and enjoy embarrassing ricers and running against fellow ls1's and the like... So it gets driven, but not particularly abused.

Silver- 1998 Trans AM WS6
look for a used tranny thats probably the cheapest way out. I bought a 2001 4l60e tranny with 10k miles for $250 and paid someone $100 to put it in
