    Too much stall???

I just installed a Vigilante 3200-3400 stall converter with a new, somewhat built up tranny w/ shift kit and 2.73 rear gears (until I find a deal on the 3.73's) Would too much stall with the 2.73 gears cause my tranny to not lock up on the interstate? Is also normal to go from nearly 20 mpg around town to 11 mpg?? I hope the 3.73's help fix this....

Ouch... 2.73's... I think the 3.73's will help you a lot !!! Seem a little sluggish with a lot of slippage ? The gear swap is needed soon !

did you have the tranny tuned after the install?

if not, a tuner needs to adjust your shift points and such.

no I haven't, can any tranny shop do this, or do I need a LS1 pro? the converter locks up rarely on the interstate, but then comes out and my car will rev anywhere from 2000 to 3500 RPM to maintain 72 MPH. would the tune fix this?

When it starts to slip, do you pull the shifter into 3'rd to make it lock up again ?

When my 4600 starts to slip, I power into it slightly and it will lock up again. I do have 4.10 gears though.

most likely this is a tuning issue. Misfires probably need to be desensitized.

Your problem is too much stall for the stock PCM settings of the transmission.

Your shift points need adjustment, plus the possible elimination of the torque management system. You should consider a shift kit also.

These adjustments are made to the PCM, via LS1 edit, HPP3, I do not think most transmission shops can do this.

Yes you will need to get it tuned on the dyno.

a non-locking covertor with an aftermarket convertor is almost always due to misfire counts caused by the new convertor. You can have misfires desensitized to fix that.
