    1999 Camaro SS(LS6 Swap)

    Thump in my auto trans when i hit the gas real hard! Why?

    I just dropped an Ls6 (zo6) motor in My 99 SS that was an Ls1 and if i down shift at about 60 mph into 2nd gear to take off with my automatic it makes a thump under the car like an transmission mount is broken but it's not? why is this and what can i do about it? Thanks alot!!

    I am no expert but sometimes even if a tranny mount looks ok and is not ripped it still can have small tears in it or just be weak from wear. If you take a pry bar and gently pry under the trans-if it moves its the mount.

    Replace the stock tranny mount with a prothane poly unit, no more thump.
