    no 3rd gear?

i was cruising on the freeway when my overdrive completly went out. it just acted like it was in neutral. i exited and when i began to accelerate it would not shift into 3rd. i get 1st and 2nd and when the tranny wants to shift to 3rd it just slips like crazy or shifts into neutral. i dropped the pan an the fluid was burnt, the filter was disgusting. i changed the filter and fluids and added some lucas tranny additive. i dont know much about trannys especially autos but i didnt see anything out of the norm as far as the valve body or solenoids? can someone relate? i know that 4l60e is shit because the one in my tahoe took a dump too and i just got that one beefed up to handle some towing but the one in my camaro has only 80000 miles on it.HELP

did you have alot of black "dust" in your fluid? sounds like your clutch packs went out. If you take it to a transmission shop then they should be able to take it for a drive while its hooked to there scanner and see if the car tries to shift into third. If the car is trying then you know its not an electrical problem and you would need a rebuild.
