    Need new tranny?

So my tranny took a dump. I was driving around the block and noticed a vibration when I accelerated. When I decided to pull in my drive way, I gave it a little gas to get over the little hill and I felt the vibration again and my Rpms went up like it was in neutral or something. I tried to drop it and shift it but it didn't work it like stayed in neutral. I got underneath and the cable was attached and the converter wasn't missing bolts. Could it be the front pump? What other possibilities are there I don't want to buy anew one or get this one rebuilt if its something simple. I guess there goes my H/C.

I have no gears at all. My old hyperpac said it was in P even when I cycled through my gears.

sounds like you have no fluid pressure in the trans. Either the pump went out or there's no fluid in the trans. What is the condition of the trans fluid? If its dark and stinky, then you'll definitely need a rebuild.

It has low miles and the fluid was clean looking and smelt normal. I hope it's just the pump.

I think you will have to rebuild it, if your up to the task yourself there used to be a dvd/vhs series made for each type of trans that takes you step by step thru it. I know what happened there is a piece inside and its a washer made of plastic with little tabs on it. If you have to pull the pump just rebuild it, it will be wide open anyway.

what do parts cost for something like that, just a DIY rebuild?

May be buying another car for a little while (couple years in school) just for a beater... if the t/a is paid off, and the trans is blown anyway, i might try to rebuild it myself if it can be done for a couple hundred bucks.
