ok is it even possible to pull the trans with long tube headers? I couldnt get to the top bolts of the bell housing even with the trans lowered. and the headers look like they are in the way. can you pull the trans without pulling the headers? and how do you get to the top bolts?

anyone got tips on how to get the top bolts of the trans out? i would like to get the converter done myself instead of paying someone to do it.

I have a TCI 3500 stall. Did mine in 4 hours with a lift. I also installed a new front and rear transmission seal just in case. I would recommend replacing the front and rear trans seals because it would suck to have to drop the trans again for a oil leak. If you are using the stock flex plate, you will have to drill out one of the bolt holes to get the bolt in. I drilled mine with the trans in the car, just use a cordless drill so you can get it up in there. I also have LT headers and there was no problems in dropping the transmission. For the top bolts, use a universal adapter and alot of extensions.

So it is possible to take the trans out with headers on? Any suggestions on how to reach the top bolts? The car isnt on a lift if that matters. there isnt much room on top of the trans to get to the bolts.

lots of extensions and a swivel joint like was posted should do it, maybe even 2 swivels.

universal swivil joints and extensions are your friend.......more extensions does mean less torque gets applied to the bolts but they get the job done
