Car versus Truck

As noted on here before... I don't know a whole lot about automatic transmissions. I believe our '07 Suburban also has a 4L60E in it. Is there any real difference in it as compared to the 4L60E in our T/A? I will be upgrading our car's transmission over the winter (hopefully) and am curious as to any differences. Since I will be using our truck to tow, if I happen to cook the transmission, would I have a spare?

Gear ratios, output shaft, electronics, etc...

I assume the tahoe is 4 wheel drive? It probably has a differant tail and output shaft. I'm sure someone else will chime in here.

The 4L60E is/was constantly evolving and I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't 100% compatible between 2002 and 2007. At one point I had a good grip on alot of the differences. I'd have to review my rebuild books to come up with an answer and if I get time tonite, I will.

You would more than likley have to change the tail shaft, the internal elctrical, the shifter shaft, and the output shaft spline count and length may be different as well. The core would be the same. How ever gm went to a 5 or 6 speed auto at some point and it's not a 4l60e anymore. I have seen the mod numbers but I can't remember them right now. It might have been with the body change in 07 08.
