    Unhappy blown tranny at 60k

    I have a Stock '02 auto. This past weekend when accelerating I heard a high pitched whine and then the my auto trans stopped upshifting properly (severe lag).

    Since it was so loud, I pulled over and checked the trans fluid and everything was/is normal level with no leaks apparent, so I thought there must be an internal failure.

    Then I also discovered that reverse died as well. I cant believe this thing has problems at 60k.

    Anyone else blow out a stock automatic trans setup on this list, and is there a known problem ? I have to take drop it off for repair somewhere today.

    Thanks...

    Killed mine at 24K, but I planned on rebuilding it anyway. I knew that the stock tranny would not live behind the mods that were coming. Now I've put 50k on this tranny with my mods and its still living happily. If you have the money you might as well rebuild it to street strip levels and I’d add a tranny cooler as well.

    That is bad for a stocker to go out at 60K. Don't hear of it too much.

    Please feel free to look at what we have to offer and give us a call. Sorry you died so early but the 60e built to stock specs is not a very formidable unit, But when built to performance specs they can really take a beating

    The shop took it apart and stated the the ?reverse drum? had come apart. Anyone have a schematic diagram of the internals of the auto tranny? I cant find my PDF manual.

    Thumbs up Got the car back from the shop

    Just for the record, these were the parts that needed to be replaced;

    K7231 Housing and Drum Assembly, Reverse Input
    24229604 Shell and 24226165 Gear, along with Gaskets, Seals, Filter, Oil.

    I'd still like to find out how this happened - Good thing I have everything under warranty.

    When we re-did mine, I opted for the 5 position planitary gears and the "Beast" sun shell, among other upgrades...the one thing i wish the 4l60e transmissions did was shift from 2-3 like it does in the 1-2
