    my car is makeing about 600 hp ive built my 4l60e 6 times ive got about 4000 dollars in it. im looking for the best advice on a trans swap. ive heard talk about a 4l8oe swap. i want to keep the overdrive and not go to a 3 speed. does anyone out there no any thing about the 4l60e swap.

    i know the 80e is heavier and bigger and longer. but will my computer shift it and will it even fit.

    A properly built/beefed 4L60 should handle that kind of power.....
    What kind of driving are we doing? What kind of Trannie heat are we seeing and for how long?
    Trannie Cooler/Good synthetic fluid/TransGo Shift Kit/Proper shift points and firmness coupled with a "tuned" Stall Converter and you can stop rebuilding your trannie....heat is the number one killer of transmissions....

    The 4L80E will fit. You'll need a tci tranny controller or a different wiring harness for your stock PCM to control the 4L80E.

    There are a couple of tranny places that are said to have 4L60E's that hold up to 600rwhp. Rock-on Transmissions, Rossler, and FLP. I'd suggest doing a search for those names and 4L60e. Also, for the $4000 you put into your 4L60E over time, you could've paid like $24-2600 and had one of these 600rwhp trannies. Or even a beefed up 4L80E and a $1000 converter they call for.

    my trans was not stock the last guys that built it at ptc are well known for building race transmissions. it lasted about two months they said that the trans could not handle that kind of power especially when im running a 273 gear in the rearend. the reason for this gear is street racing i can spray a 200 out the gate on the street and never blow a tire. thanks for the advice, i think im going to put a 350 turbo in it since all i do is race with the car.
