    Automatic transmission

I have a 98 TA convertable with about 130,000 with the tranny rebuilt about 95,000. My question is whenever the weather gets cold the shift button won't depress until the car warms up. Any ideas what is wrong?

Define cold, could be the cable lube is old and gets stiff, could be moisture that is freezing.

Cold is usually anything below 55 degrees.

In my case I can see that the cable is moving freely and I think it's the switch near the brake pedal but I'm really not positive. Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot about the brake inter lock. the slonoid or switch could not be working properly. If you want to relube the cable, something like a spary in molly/lythuim lube should work. You ahve to remoce the cable from the shifter and tranny to do it right.
