4L60E Build Up for Serious Power
So, I am working on a major overhaul of a motor/tranny(LT1/A4) out of a 94 Z28. I am looking at Serious Power with a 383 and T76 Turbo and was wondering if there is any way to build up the tranny to take that kind of power, Im shooting for around 700 hp, can it handle it even with a rebuilt tranny with new clutches and valves and torque converter etc?

Clutches and stuff won't cut it at that hp level. You'll need to upgrade input shafts to not only hardened and rienforced but the thicker ones, at least 5 pinion, planetaries and other 4L65E hardware but honestly after spending that much you'd probably come out better with a 4L80E swap. It stock can handle more than many built up 4L60E's.

Completely different. Much bigger everything. Huge teeth on all the gears bigger shafts stronger everything. I've not seen what an install looks like in them as I have yet to do it and don't know how tight it is yet. However the GM High perf issue that had the power add shootout all the auto cars had the 4L80's so I know it has/can be done may times. Just as iof this moment I'm not sure personally what's involved. Especially in the trans tunnel. But back to the GM high tech none of those looked like anything serious was done to them.
