never taken it to the strip but lots of petal to the floor, what can i say i love the feeling of being pushed back in the seat. clutch packs, bands, sunsheel, valve body, tail shaft housing. they usually last about 5000 to 1oooo miles then the slip starts

You will loose over drive if you go the th400 rout. They are tough. For street use the 4l80e might be tough enough for you though

I think the only reason most don't go with the 4L80e is cost. A built 4L80E is 3000+ dollars. Not including a stall or any of the many extras. I would trade my m6 for a 4L80E in a heart beat. With a transbrake too please A th400 will install with next to no modifications and will take a lot of abuse, at the cost of losing your OD.

Yea good idea, cause as soon as you stop breaking the trans that rear is bound to have some problems.

Yep, you have to run a seperate trans computer too. A 3-speed is the way to go if it's not a daily driver for sure.

The 4l80E and the turbo Hydromatic 400 share some of the same internals too.. Just thought I'd add my .02..

Why don't people run th350's? Is the length of the 400 similar to the 4l60e? I know the 700r4/4l60e is longer than the th350/200-4r length. The 400 sucks a good bit of power out compared to the 350

TH400 with a trans brake is the only tranny my buddy could get to work (and not break) behind his 9 second 347 turbo car.

800+ hp and 750 lbs/ft torque tends to put a hurting on 4L60E's no matter how you build it.

Oh, no questions on why not use a 4l60e. Dey shit. But people with fairly mild street cars, a th350 weighs less and saps a good bit less power than a th400
