i urge you to rethink that.

I'm new to Ls1 mods. I've built many big blocks and dragbike motors. I do mostly highway driving but do enjoy a good launch every other day. Of course I'll use a good trans cooler but worried about around town driving with such a high stall with 3.23 gears. I'll trust your opinion, It's only money. Just gave away a brand new , never used 3200 stall from ATI for a 700r4 to a friend that I was going to put into my 67 SS chevelle. decided not to use it. Then I bought the 99 Trans Am. If I could only predict the future.:

I ran a 3500 on 3.23's for a couple of years. No problems with it. Once you're at highway speeds and it locks up it's just like stock. Any other mods planned later down the road? May want to take all of those into consideration before selecting the stall.

I'm planning on 3.73's in the near future, this should only help with a 3000 stall. glad to hear about the highway speed in lock up not being a problem. Helped me make my mind up.

    Thanks

I have 3.73's coupled to a 3K stall, and even though I get a kick out of driving it, if I had to do it all over, I would have gone with a minimum 3400 stall.

If your vehicle is an 01 or 02, you should consider replacing the stock weak flexplate with a TCI SF29 unit, they are sold by Jeg's and Summit.

You will need a dyno tune to eliminate some problems (i.e. Torque Management) that will occur with the gear and stall change.

A trans cooler is a must, the B&M 24K is a good choice.

you dont need a dyno tune to get rid of torque management, just ls1edit or hp tuners.
    everything else i agree with.

This is true, some of the other problems I was experiencing was:

    1. Idle hunt @ complete stop, or stalling.
    2. Locking and Unlocking of converter @ various speeds
    3. Going 50 MPH downhill with foot off the accelerator with tach @ 600 RPM (my personal favorite)
    4. Transmission shifting from 3rd to 4th, 4th to 3rd under normal (non agressive throttle) driving.
