    $400 install for a stall?

I called a very good shop in my area and they told me it would cost $400 for the install. Does that sound about right?

Having done it recently on our car, I would say that it does take a couple of hours to do it right. What is the hourly rate at the shop? Also, have you looked at the sticky in the auto trans section of the forum?

I have read your wright up on removing the tanny and doing it yourself. I live in a apartment at the moment now so no place to do it myself. Idk what the shop hour rate is. Its just a shop I trust. I'll still call around to get a ballpark figure.

IMO that isn't a horrible price really.....did that include the tranny cooler install or was that just for the stall?

The book calls for 4.6 hours to R&R the transmission, our shop rate is 65 an hour so that's around 305$. Then you have to add some time for replacing the converter, inspecting/replacing the seals, ect. and cost of fluids. So 400 seems pretty reasonable.
