Y-pipe question
I guess a clamp on my exhaust was loose, as i was coming home from work today and the section of my exhaust that connects to the y-pipe came loose and hit the ground pretty good, its to messed up right now to go back together.
I had plans for taking that bit off sometime soon and just running a bullet muffler dumped before the rear axle coming off of the y-pipe. Right now i don't have the money for the bullet muffler, so my question is how bad would it be to run with a turn down coming off of the y-pipe. With no turn down on it now it basically just sounds like i'm running with my cutout open, i just want to make sure that running the car like that won't cause any issues with the motor or something..

I believe they make oval cutouts that can be installed at the Y-pipe. As long as you are far enough downstream from the O2 sensors you should be ok.

sounds good.. i think i'm going to end up running a flowmaster 10 series on it 3"in-3"out then dump it right before the rear axle. Hopefully it will sound decent coming off of the y-pipe, true duals are pretty much out of the question because of how bad the roads are here..
i'm going to try and just stick to driving my truck as much as possible till i get the flowmaster on there though, just in case..

i got a pair of cherry bomb extreme mufflers 3" single in/out for sale, I'm not too far from there here in round rock.
I know a guy in my neighborhood that runs LT's and a 3" x pipe that dumps right before the rear axle and he has had no problems for the past 3 years.Last edited by Faught; 07-21-2010 at 08:12 PM.
