    Question Y pipe back

I have a 2k ws6 with obx lt and resonators for cats. Currently i have lm1 exhaust. Not wondering about sound (yet). What "y pipe back"-dunno if thats the right term- would give me more hp due to back pressure?

    thanks

If your only asking about y pipe back and u have stock manifolds im taking it and stock y pipe with LM exhaust, then just a y pipe will not improve much for sound or hp gains. Just leave your stock y pipe until your ready to do headers unless you have a hole in ur y pipe?

I have headers...obx lt...i dynoed at 335hp 337tq..was wondering if the lack of back pressure would lower the numbers. Thats why i am asking about changing the ypip back

You may see a slight decrease in rwhp with a stock y pipe but not a huge gain with replacing it. To answer your question yes it would be recommended to replace your y pipe to allow more flow but like I said the gains will be minor.

what about lm1 muffler compared to others that create more pressure?

A lot of performance mufflers produce similar hp numbers but i dont have dyno proven quotes or sites for you, youd just have to search mufflers and see what gains people have made using different brands. I would recommend just replacing your y-pipe and leaving your aftermarket LM muffler and using your money elsewhere. I personally have Corsa but just ordered pacesetter ceramic LTs and y pipe and after I install and get numbers ill definitely post them for you.

Looks good, just leave ur lm and put the savings elsewhere. Im not putting cats back on mine so we will see how that plays out.

I think I'm getting at what you are saying. Reduced back pressure wont hurt your hp numbers, the only thing it will do is lower your bottom end torque. I had a 02 silverado that I put headers on and mid-top range it was a monster, but taking off from a dig took a little more throttle. On my camaro with the OBX and ORY and LM2, I have noticed no loss in power at all. So I think you are safe with your set up as is.

335/337 seems about right for those mods. Change the catback if you're unhappy with the sound, otherwise leave it.

I have almost identical mods....I would love to get both cars together and see if there actually is a difference in LM1 and LM2 mufflers. I love how mine sounds, and I get a lot of compliments on it.
