Question will i need 02 sensor wiring extensions?

i plan on getting LT's and tsp TD's and i thought all i would need extra would be arp bolts,gm gaskets, and thats it and someone said i will need 02 sensor wiring extensions even though i plan on getting a tune right after i get these installed so is this true?

Most headers require front o2 extensions. If you're tuning out the rear, then you obviously won't need them for the rear o2s.

You will need a pair of 02 extensions, should run about $25-30 for the pair IIRC.

You are better off getting the vette 02 sensors.. the wires are PLENTY long.. and I've heard people having probs with the entensions... You can get the 02s at any parts store.

My Pacesetters came with a splicing kit to lengthen the o2 sensor leads. I bought extensions anyway, not a fan of splicing.

Thats what I used. Had to replace drivers side front after my tune and the stock wire was really tight so I went with the vette o2 sensor and had plenty of wire.

I agree with everyone else, you need the extensions for your front o2 sensors, with the True duals you will have no cats so you will be deleting your rear o2 sensors. 24" extensions is what I got, they are plug and play, no big hassle at all. If you need help with your install just PM me. I am located in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Do you need extended 02 sensors on LT's w/EGR delete installed?

I do not run true duals.
I just ordered the EGR/AIR delete set up for my car from LS1 Speed, Inc. & they didn't mention anything about needing 02 sensor extensions as well.

Pretty much any LT headers will need either extentions, or different 02 sensors as the stock ones aren't long enough to reach where the new placements are... Mine are the race version LTs... no emmissions..

I just checked with the place I bought my headers, they said '02 sensor extensions are not necessary, however would make things a lot easier. With that in mind, could someone please help me choose the right extensions?

It looks like my options are:
    - 182-109007 Oxygen Sensor Extension Harness GM 24'' Square
    - 182-109011 Oxygen Sensor Extension Harness GM 24'' Flat

I know I would need 2 of them.
Thanks very much for the help.

I believe ours have the square plugs. Just call Speed inc. back and order them through them, I bet they have them too.

You are exactly right. To add to your post, our cars require 1 12" for one side, 1 24" for the other. Thanks for the post!

Sorry to hijack but I am going to be getting some LT's and ORY here soon. I probably will not be getting a tune right away which I understand is fine. However, I will need extensions just for the front two O2s right? The back ones will be gone with the ORY correct and those are the ones that will be throwing the SES code? Are the back two sensors the only ones that can be tuned out? So you only need one pair of sensors for the car to run right? Sorry for the dumb questions but I still don't fully understand the whole O2 thing. Thanks

Tune is not necessary, but will maximize power gains as headers tend to make you run rich. Front o2s need extensions with long tube headers, without cats you do not need rear extensions. Front o2s mix fuel, rear check cat function. You will need to trick the rear o2, tune it out or get sims. I highly recommend tuning them out, and tricking them until you get them tuned out. Sims are about $70 or more, and can fail or not work on some cars. There are threads across the LS1 forums about failed sims.
