I do agree that the SLP systems add the power.
But with just LT's they get very raspy. Add a cam, and they sound like mine did in the first post of this thread.

Some like it, some don't. I am not a fan of rasp. I like loud.
Mine now is clean and loud.
Cutouts open it sounds like it will eat your pets.
I agree. My LM sounded great with cats, but with an ORY sounded like a old Chevy truck and was raspy with a lot of drone. I replaced the resonator with Borla XR1 and couldn't be happier.

I had the LM1 for about 5 years now on my 01 SS and loved the sound when it was basically stock. I just got LT, ORY, and 224 Cam installed and got the car back last weekend, but need to rethink my exhaust. It is VERY loud and VERY raspy at different RPMs. I really haven't gone above 3500-4000 RPMs yet, but I can still tell I am going to need to do something with the LM1 I currently have. I have been doing tons of research on all the LSx forums and just have not been able to make a decision. I am leaning towards the Borla XR-1 bullet to replace the LM resinator, but I don't think it will bring the overall dbs down, just help with the rasp. I think I would like that sound, but I am kinda nervous about passing emissions coming up in Jan. 08. I am sure the car would be flagged just sitting in line at the inspection station as loud as it is now. If they do, no way it will pass a visual....

    Decisions decisions....

I guess I could always get rid of the rasp with the Borlamouth and then register is at my mother's house in Chino Valley where they do not require inspections..

I guess I will just keep researching and try to make a decision that will not cost me too much, but keep it on the road...

    Opinions welcomed...

I plan on moving to the prescott area just for that reason, to avoid Arizona's e-checking. Hope it works out for you.

Me too. Car is wicked now, but just too damn loud and raspy. I am starting to look into the Magnaflow catback. Not too expensive and seems to have a pretty good reputation for sound with LT's and ORY....

Wish now I didn't have the LM1 welded in. Gonna need a shop to get it out if I do end up replacing the entire catback. Not to mention I probably can't sell the old welded LM1 to make this all a little cheaper for me...

Good GOD!!! That is pretty much how load mine is without being inside and with a ton more rasp mostly thanks to the A4..

Just kidding. I am really impressed with all the work overall, just need to do something about the LM. I was forwarned and should have expected it, but was still pretty shocked when I got it out of the shop. Luckily, it is not my daily driver, but still need to tone and quiet it down some for my sake and all others on the road (including LEOs)..

There is a cam in there for the idle clip.
They both sound pretty good as long as you don't get headers.

When I had my LM put on as soon as I drove away I absolutely hated it. It had so much drone inside that car at 50mph to 85 MPH it drove me nuts.
Just sounded like a old dump truck. And I have cats and stock exhaust manifolds. I put a Borla xr-1 on it and it sounds like a v8 should. I wont say that BORLA rules though because NHRAformula will freak out and start asking for dyno sheets and ask why borla rules. hahahahahaha

ok, i know im going off subject just a little, so i get my car on monday and have had plans to put pacesetter lt's and ypipe with the LMI...until reading this post and realizing how much of a rasp there will be! spending 800, i can either get the setup listed above, or the LMI, keep the stock headers and ypipe, and add a lid, filter, smooth bellow...what do you guys think?!

    I did.
The LM sounded so bad with the stock motor, I got rid of it long before putting the stroker in.

I currently have the loudmouth catback, i'm wondering. If i get headers, and tsp true duals, how much extra piping would i need to run it over the axle to the back ? TSP isn't too clear on what they provide in their kit.

If you get true duals then you wont need the cat back.

TSP duals do not come out the back of the car.

The way it is designed, I am not sure you could make it come out the rear of the car. They hang low under the cabin of the car.

I really want a dual that will be able to run all the way to the back of the car. How much is the typical gain over the headers y catback combination with duals ?
