Alright, I keep hearing about the LS6 valley cover. Im wondering if I should buy one when I do my cam swap. I have a 2005 LQ4 shortblock. Dont know which valley cover it came with. Any way to tell?

you will have pcv hoses coming from under the valley cover..if not..you still should buy it and upgrade.

The valley would have a PCV oriface on the end near the front. If you don't have it, skip it. It's worthless.

i wouldnt say worthless..the ls6 design is much superior to the ls1 style with regard to oil being sucked etc

I got just as much oil in the intake with it as before. Not worth the $180 or so I spent on it imo.

J, you should rebuild you 98 pcv system using the new style pcv valve. I got pics and a write up. a LOT less oil comes through plus it looks better and improves idle quality

Maybe a silly question, but my 04 GTO has some trouble starting. Then I dump a can of SeaFoam into her and she is good for another 3000 miles or so, then that same crappy starting issue. I pulled a few of the plugs today and the threads are all covered in oil....WTF?

I am guessing that I need a catch can. Could the oil be causing the poor starting condition?

Sigh Seafoam. Sounds like you probably washed the cyl walls with it. Now ur rings are polished and oil is getting past and covering your plugs. You have a much more serious problem on your hands I'm afraid. hope you have extended warranty

It may slide up but you'd prolly find it easier to just drain from the bottom.

It doesn't fill up very fast and I hardly ever drive it so I rarely empty it.

Came with the black bracket, looks fine to me.

I haven't cleaned the filter element. Not sure it's necesary.

Non breather type works great, not sure when a breather is needed.
