Whats up with this Low coolant light !!

I just bought my 99` T/A a few weeks ago. Ive had a misc # of problems, but it mainly issues with the high flow cats failing emissions. My ongoing problem is this Low Coolant Light. When I start my car, there is no light, right around 210 after driving it for about 15-20 min the light comes on. I have checked to make sure the coolant is not low numerous times. I think its a bad sensor? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

'99 was the last year they put them on the F-body, glad I don't have one. You can take it out and clean it (hit and miss), replace it, or just unplug it to keep the light off.

I disagree - unplug the sensor and see if the light goes off. People have been doing it for years, even on the LT1 cars.

IMO, I would never recommend disconnecting a safety switch - even if it's only a warning light. The light may go out (mine came on when the plug was disconnected). However, that would be like having a faulty oil pressure guage, so you just disconnect it to avoid the inconvenience. I would recommend replacing it. You might inspect the plug and wiring beforehand, just to make sure they are ok, as the wiring for it does run near the exhaust.

Agree with all the above. This light has let me know that I have a small leak before. I will pull it out and clean it or if you can replace it.

They've been a problem for years...and GM finally took them off our cars, even while making the temp gauge a dummy starting in '99. OMG what am I going to do since I don't have one? If you want it spend the money repalce it.

mines been unplugged since i bought the car... unplugged the light does NOT come on. They always seem to go bad, just check the coolant level every now and then and you'll be fine.
