What should I buy?
I just bought a 2002 WS6 Trans Am with a 6 speed manual. It only has 30,000 miles on it. I drive the car everyday. I run 93 octane only and use mobile 1 oil. Please list any performance parts that I can put on the car to get better fuel economy and more horse power, but yet still reliable enough for everyday use. Thanks.

Black on black- 2000 Trans Am WS6
Welcome, Start with a aftermarket Lid, air filter, and a skip shift eleminator. Good bang for the buck and really easy to due. Headers, y-pipe (cats or no cats), and a cat back exhaust are the next bolt ons to add. They are a little harder to due but well worth it. Being that it is a manual you can realy control your fuel economy more than any add on will ever due. As for what brand thats up to you. Just use the (Search) drop down and you will get a bunch of stuff to read and where to get the parts from. Good luck and have fun!

get subframe connectors. not only will the car handle much better, it prevents other problems because the body twists less. example: less likely to get leaking t-tops.

First...stop using Mobil 1. You are wasting your money.
Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30 has better results for less money.
Second, airbox lid and catback exhaust.
Third, avoid the 'rookie modder' mistake of ordering from SLP. They suck.
Fourth, subframe connectors and longtube headers.2008 Trailblazer SS
Yank PTB3600, Kooks 1 7/8" LT's, 4" intake, E-fans, Magnaflow, Sonnax kit, tranny cooler, tune.
Lowered, HID's, tinted.

Long tube headers will likely decrease your mpgs, not increase.

What?
Avoid SLP? I planned on buying only SLP mods, because GM trusted them to modify the Firebird Firehawk from the factory.

CAI, heads with a medium cam, and headers. With the LS1's you can actually see an increase in MPG with heads and cam swaps as long as it's not too big of a cam.

Yea stay away from slp, I have their longtubes and the sit right on the ground and scrape over everything, + their way too expensive for the quality.

The only thing i ordered from slp is their lm2 exhaust b/c i honestly like the way it sounds, and their lid b/c well.....just about every lid is the same so who cares. Dont go with their headers. Too many ppl complain about them being extremely low.

^ their lids sometimes rub against hoods.
if you like their exhaust sound, get it. their quality is fine and there are plenty of sponsors with good customer service that sell them. other stuff is probably fine too. but their longtubes are a little overpriced and sit way too low. i would just stay away from anything besides the loudmouth catbacks.

I agree don't waste anymore money on Mobil 1.
I would say run PP also but my first choice is Amsoil.
You need to go to their site anyways to order a air filter while your at it get some oil and 2 quart's of synthetic rear end fluid. Your car has done quit a bit of setting which isn't the best thing.
Getting a good tune would be my third thing after putting a better muffler and lid set up.
Could is correct. A lot of time you loose though due to a bad selection with your purchase. Most buy too big of headers and the TQ curve falls through the floor which is what you need with a street car. So what you gain 8hp @ 5000-6300 how often are you in that range. You have lost 20 ft of TQ almost every where.
To see the real gain of adding headers the car must be retuned after install also.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

I am about to order the amsoil air filter and throw my K&N in the trash. I will order their rear end oil because my rear seems to be roaring slightly already. You guys might talk me into swaping to their engine oil also, although I've had a 3.4L engine with 160,000 miles torn down and seen NO visible engine wear after using Mobil 1 for 8 years! I am also about to order an aftermarket lid... what brand is the best?

The motor would look even better is you ran their oil!
Buy a couple of their oil filters when you place your order to make it better on shipping.
They are by far the best oil filters.
On the CAI I would opt for the Volant kit.

The catback is a decent product. Just happens to sound like trash with longtubes.
I would NEVER purchase internals from them.
They screwed me on a $175 oil pump that was defective, but they wouldn't back it. Their service was horrible, the SOB called me a liar on the phone. Charged me to ship it to them, $5 handling, told me it wasn't their fault, and charged me to ship it back here. There was NO WAY it was my fault. Threads DO NOT back out when you finger thread in a bolt.
The money wasn't the issue, the service was.
