What exhaust to go with?
I am looking at getting a catback exhaust system for my 99 Z28. I like the borla and the SLP loudmouth. I have hollowed cats. I was wondering what other peoples opinions were. Is the Borla worth the extra $300? I am open to any suggestions. Not very many people have modded LS1's around here so I have never really heard either of them that much.

hey, your kind close to me i think man.
if your going to get a borla get a used one i suggest man, you can pick em up for about 400 or 500.
i love my borla, pretty loud though with headers and custom Y. you would like it

if you want LOUD, scare the crap out of people, get the LM like me w/long tubes and an ory. too loud for some wussies, but just perfect for me...

get the hooker exhaust. it can be had for around 300 and makes the same power as 800 dollar systems.

I have borla and I love it. It is cool that you can change the plates, but I never have since I bought it, so don't base your decision on that. I love the way my car sounds with long tubes and borla. Good luck.

Same for me
The Hooker Aerochamber sounds good, flows well and is a lot cheaper than Borla and Corsa. I got my Borla catback dirt cheap. If you can find a good used one for $300-400 I would be all over it, but wouldn't necessarily pay $600-700 for a catback.
The Loudmouth is a great flowing catback and good bang for the buck. Some people will replace the Loudmouth resonator with a bullet to cut down on the rasp. Either way though, its LOUD and doesn't sound awful like so many people claim.
Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

The flow is Horrible, you would want something with a "strait through design"
most other flowmaster products are not bad but the 80 series is not the greatest.
look inside an 80 series and you will see what i mean.Last edited by Tyler_LS1; 11-06-2006 at 06:48 PM. Reason: SP

borla, corsa, or magnaflow, cut the cats, gutted cats tipically sound like crap, and disturb gas flow. also get some long tube headers
And most inportantly, dont cheap out, go with stainless steel all the way, and make sure who ever is welding for you that they use an equal or better quality filler rod so that it doesn't rust.
P.S. I really like magnaflow

I have a flowmaster system on mine and I love the sound. I compared borla and corsa, but for my ear I love the sound. even though a lot of people on this site would disagree with me. At the muffler shop the guy took off the stock mufflers (P.O.S) and put a borla, corsa, magnaflow and flowmaster on and to me the flowmaster sounded the best. But they are deffenitly not the loudest out there, it just depends on what you like.

Love my Borla. I had a flowmaster and it sounded weak in comparison.

it's Loud Mouth cat-back, with LT's/ORY going into 4" diameter, 22" long Magnaflow rolled tips
the reason it didn't show up is because Sig's are only allowed to be shown once per page. if you go up to post #3 you will see my sig. sorry about that...
WTF, now my sig shows twice...
