When my old z28 got hit I really wanted an ss and couldn't find one at a decent price. Found the ta at a steal and fixed it up a little but I really had an itch for an ss.

Well, the Y junction at the rear and the tailpipes are definately from the SLP loudmouth setup.

The rest of it appears to me,,,to be the factory I-pipe and someone just welded in a bullet style muffler.

Tater, glad you got your baby. Looks nice from the one pic. SOM is a killer color. I am just going to replace the whole exhaust. Have it new to start with, since it looks pieced together. It actually sounds pretty decent whatever bullet muffler it is. The Magnaflow with LTs and catted y is what I am going to switch to. Let you know how it goes. Won't be for a couple of months. Thanks for the help everybody.

I went to the GMMG website and learned about the company and listened to the chambered exhaust. I never heard GMMG before. Sounds real nice! I dont think i listened to them, because the talk was that they were over priced. I really like their sound. I am going to look into pricing. Thanks for bringing them up. Havent had to many people reccommend them.

The gmmgs aren't made anymore. Vengeance racing is doing a special order on them 10 at a time and you have to wait for 9 other people to buy one before they even get made.
I'm waiting myself, if you do get one i'd suggest stick with cats, I hear it gets raspy without cats.

I was going to do headers and cats. I went to their site and it said you could order now. They were $750. When you try to order, they tell you, you have to wait?

I didn't know magnaflow was so popular! Nice that mine came with magnaflows

I love the sound: it's not "raspy" at all... just a smooth growl that turns into a healthy, robust roar at WOT. Sounds especially nice in tunnels

Yes if you call they put you through vengeance racing. Wish you good luck with it. I'm in the same boat, gotta start all over with the exhaust on this one

all exhaust will become raspy when you add headers and eliminate cats... it really gives it that old muscle sound if you ask me. but mine is a cat set up. i dont have the dynomat installed road noise alone drives me crazy

I vote for borla XR-1. Since you already have the larger pipes just weld the borla in and call it a day. It sounds great cruising and mean as hell at WOT. The best exhaust I've ever had.
2002 Camaro SS/M6. Volant CAI, 80mm TB w/spacer, cat delete w/ ory, borla XR-1 w/ cme, custom tune, 3.73's, 8,000k HID headlights and foglights, 19" staggered ruff 278 wheels.

dennis ss. I think you are right. I already have the pipes, i will just switch out the muffler for now and i was thinking about getting the dual chrome plated stainless steel tips from after thoughts. Has any body purchased those? are they good quality? They are only $55 for the pair. They look like the corsa tips.

A larger I-pipe or a real dual system will also eliminate most if not all rasp and do it without the cats.
It's when you funnel everything down a little 3" single I-pipe that causes most of the problem.

Installing cats to eliminate rasp is just a bandaid for the real issue.

Those are good tips, there are members on here that have them. I had to have my exhaust custom installed because I have the center mount exhaust. Its funny, I went to 2 exhaust shops were they say they "specialize" in exhaust setups and everyone said it couldn't be done. Me and my mechanic made it happen and it only took 2 hours.
