You can delete it, cap the 2 back ports and run a catch can and have better results. IIRC a tune to remove the CEL code too.

That looks like the last half of the PCV system. I may be wrong as I own an 01, but that is what my PCV system looks like..

It's part of the pcv hose that hooks to the back of the intake. That is exactly what mine looked like when I replaced mine before changing my pcv setup.

That is not a an egr tube..that is a piece of the PCV. It should go from one valve cover to the other then up to the throttle body...brand new gm part on amazon for 89 bucks. I just had to replace one.

By the way do not cap those on the rear of the valve cover...install a catch can if you're concerned with oil making it back into the throttle body

What do you call this part?

yeah I was quick on that one...but regarding the ports & catch can.... yes you can cap the 2 rear ports on the valve covers. The front port on pass side then needs to connects to a catch can then on into the throttle body.

Mine has been setup this way going on 5 yrs now.

There is only one "valve" and that is located in the hose on the front passenger side of the intake.

Google gm ls1 pcv and in images there is a good disgram. It comes up as first image. Then find the part number and order it the pcv does not come in separate pieces it is all one unit. To avoid future vacuum leaks buy the stock unit and don't try to patch up your current one

Sean if that pic is of yours then the hoses are not good.

The plastic lines in the back merge into a y type connector in the back. In your pic it looks like it broke off. The PCV is a separate part that is changeable, but again those hoses are all dry rotted. Thomas is right in ordering the whole unit IF you're going to replace it as is.

Here is the sticky to make it yourself if time is an issue.

Here are the part number for the hose assembly 12590632. GMpartsdirect.com has it for $76.99 plus handling charge. Not sure if they will ship it overseas.

^agreed. I would just replace the whole hose. Mine was cracked and was causing my engine to misfire and upon replacing it it fixed the issue.

Or you could fix it with a better system that works way better, a little more work but this PCV is a way better set up. http://www.ls1.com/forums/f63/ls6-va...r-pics-145557/

    I'll probably do just this.
    but
does assembly # 12590632 include the valve or is it just the hose? Also is it going to fit my 98 T/A?
The reason I'm asking is cause in some other places (e.g. Chevrolet Corvette Camaro Pontiac Firebird PCV Valve Pipe Hose New 12590632 | eBay) the part is listed as fitting 99-up cars

    hmm
I researched a little bit more online and seems like some sources give a different part for 98:
98-2002 Camaro/Firebird LS1 PCV Hose System - Hawks Third Generation
    or
    GMPartsDirect.com - Find a Item
I'll be at the garage tomorrow and look closer at the broken part
