I believe I read somewhere that the SSRA has a block off for the opening on the underside of the SS hood....................for this very reason

I didn't find this to be true. The free ram air mod coupled with my SS hood gave me another tenth and a little more than 1 mph at the track.

It's a worthwhile mod that works whether you have a functional hood or not. Especially the SS hood,,,it's not that efficient to begin with anyway.

well said, but that's why the ssra kit has a rubber seal you're sposed to put in to block off the ss hood air flow. and i agree the volant does look the coolest but i just dont think it's gives the best hp gains.

UPDATE: i just found out that the creator of the ssra is selling them on ebay for $50 less than other places online. that's cheaper than the ftra and pretty much the same price as the slp. now there is absolutely NO reason not to go get this.

Try taping each one off and see what happens. I did this at the track and the car slows down when either one is blocked. With both the hood and the SLP cold air pack working my car ran the best times.

The theory of turbulance and too much air flow is crap.

That's why enlarging the openings on the underside of the SS hood even makes more sense

That is correct sir,,,,,SAM proved this to be worth ET/MPH back in 1999 testing on their orange SS camaro.

I just can't bring myself to go cutting on that expensive hood
